One winter I lived in an ancient trailer near Tijeras, N.M. separate
from the Cibola National Forest by two feet and a lonely strand of barbed wire.
There were two large windows in the back that overlooked a meadow, or I could look through
the large gap between the back wall and the roof. There was a large red rock in the
meadow not five feet from the window, just on the other side of the wire, on which I
spread bird seed. It took nearly a week for it to be discovered. Juncoes were
by far the most common visitors. Unfortunately this was quickly sketched on a scrap
sheet with printing on the opposite side. The printing showed through when scanned.
